Outer Islands
Wisp

3 miles wide, average above surface 9,200 ft

8.7 years between Core Island connections.

Geography

The smallest Island with a Gate, Wisp is largely rolling grassland with a set of steep-sided rocky hills at its center.

People and Culture

The few inhabitants are largely subsistence farmers whose ancestors wanted to be left alone. During Gate openings Wispans take their meager crafts to the Core Islands to trade for durable goods they can't make on their own, and usually lose several of their young to the lure of the wider world, although they do gain some back each cycle as wayward kin return to a simpler life.

Local Authority

The farmers choose a headman or headwoman to lead in problem solving, if needed. In their absence, or for larger issues, the local Arcanist serves in the role.

Language

A heavily localized version of Travit.

Traverton

The Gate sits on an empty plaza about a quarter mile from one edge, next to a small Arcanist cottage and a collection of local hovel-level buildings.
